Passport & Visas

 

Restrictions

Entry and transit is refused to:

  1. Nationals of Israel
  2. Women if not conforming to Islamic standards of modesty in dress

 

Passports

Required, but NOT by the following:

  1. Holders of a valid seaman Book traveling on duty

Notes: 1) All children born in Iran are considered Iranian nationals If one of the parents is an Iranian national or was born in Iran or the Iranian Authorities have not been advised of the child’s foreign nationality prior to her/his 18th birthday.

            2) All Iranian nationals must hold an Iranian passport or an Iranian Laissez – passer for those holding a foreign passport in order to enter the country.

           3) A passport containing the name of a person(s) accompanying the holder must also contain the photograph of such person(s) if over two years old .

Passport Validity: please contact nearest Embassy/Consulate

 

Visa  

 Required, but NOT by the following:

  • Nationals of Iran
  • Holders of diplomatic or service passports accredited to Iran
  • For stay up to 90 days by nationals of Bosnia& Herzegovina, Colombia, Korea (south), Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Turkey& former Yugoslavia.
  • Holders of diplomatic passport issued to nationals of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia& Herzegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Cyprus, France (in transit less than 24 hours), Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Kazakstan, Korea (south), kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Poland, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan& Ukraine.
  • Holders of service or official passports issued to nationals of Armenia, Brazil, Austria, China, Cyprus, France (in transit less than 24 hours), Georgia, Greece, Italy (in transit less than 24 hours), Korea south (max stay 21 Days), Former Yugoslav Rep, Pakistan, Singapore, Switzerland, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine& former Yugoslavia.
  • Holders of re-entry permits and compulsory working permits.

 

Transit

Required by all except those as noted above and:

  • Persons continuing their journey within 24 hors provided holding confirmed tickets and documents for their onward travel.
  • Merchant Seamen traveling on duty holding either a passport or valid Seaman Book who arrive by air and are met by an agent are issued with a permit (fee USD 2) and must depart within 24 hours.

Re-entry permits 

Required by all alien residents issued by the Foreign Affairs Bureau.
